HEAD OF STATE are a vocally driven original rock 4-piece from the 4 corners of inner-Newcastle!

We hit the scene in April 2003 and since have produced an independant 6-song EP (available from The Rock Shop, Soundworld, and our gigs). We have supported BETCHADUPA (NZ), VANLUSTBADER (QLD), CINEMA (Syd), and CITIZEN DOG (Syd), and played in a multitude of venues in Newcastle and Sydney, including Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Bar On The Hill, The Cambridge Hotel, The Cat & Fiddle Hotel, Lass O'Gowrie, Mayfield Hotel, and regular stints at The Commercial Hotel in Lake Macquarie. We currently have over an album's worth of songs and put these out via an energetic performance! We have gained air-play on NEW-FM, as Homegrown Feature Band Of The Week and on Central Coast's 2CCC 96.30FM, who have added "Hurter" to "The 4th Floor" program playlist! Our influences are unique and broad, from The Ramones, Dashboard Confessional, The Who, Shudder To Think, The Cure, Neil Finn, Pearl Jam, Queens Of The Stone Age, You Am I, Tom Waits, Iggy Pop, etc. Come see us play, it will be worth it!
